Scribbled Scribble

The small things in life in a few paragraphs and snapshots

Daily Prompt: Buffalo Nickel | Year 2003

I was just getting out of my car, when I heard the email alert from my iPad. Like most people nowadays, I just couldn’t help myself and had a look. It turned out to be Daily Prompt from WordPress. It says that I should find the first coin in my car (or other places) and see what year is printed there. I found the coin pictured above.

I can’t believe it has been ten years since I went back to university to get my master degree. I feel old now. I still remember how excited I was in the beginning of year 2003 to find my name was among the admitted candidates. It had been a tough time preparing for the test as a guy broke my heart and I actually cried while studying and working on exercises. I don’t know how I did it! Working on math problems with tears hot on my cheeks!

And so, I was in. I met some very interesting group of people in my class. In fact, it was a lot of fun. It made all the hardwork, the case studies, quizzes, projects, sleepless nights, and basically nearly no fun by the popular standard, fun. It was also a perfect diversion from my sad love life as I did not have time to drown myself in sorrow. And by the end of the program, I graduated cum laude!

So, it was a good year and a good time to remember too… I still can’t believe it has been a decade past. How time flies!

The Sky, The Sea and A Ship

Hello, hello!

How is everyone doing? 🙂 I hope you are enjoying this weekend. If you happen to be working for the weekend, hang in there. I know what it’s like!
Btw, no one responded to me with an answer on the quote last week. I thought it was one of the well-known quotes by John Lennon. I guess you probably didn’t notice it 🙂
Alright, so. I am currently having an almost continuous travel schedule week in week out. Last week, I went offshore again onboard of a floating platform somewhere in the middle of the vast sea. It is probably one of the most boring assignments to me. But, it helps me appreciate Jakarta better. I mean, regardless of all the chaos, it is…home. I have my people here and my favourite coffee shop too. Nevertheless, I have to say that this is quite an experience to me. It will be sort of fun to tell people, or my kids in the future, that I have been to places where I was the only female around. I get to feel more beautiful than anybody else! 😀
The good thing nowadays is we have great technology. I can bring my Xperia V and still have a bit of fun although I am “exiled”. So, for this week’s trip, I took a few snapshots from the moment I left Jakarta until the day I came back. I am sharing them with you and I hope you enjoy them.
Have a super week(end or week ahead if you read this on Monday). Remember to try to enjoy the small things in life that we sometimes take for granted 🙂
#1: Jakarta when I left on Monday.
#2: Matak Island when I landed.

#3: The view day in day out on the platform.

#4: I think this is Karawang, a city nearby Jakarta where we still have vast rice fields.
